Not sure how to describe myself - I am a social chameleon, with friends and associates that range from professionals in banking and finance, to law & medicine, to tech-heads, to artsy types.
I am always interested in learning new things, especially if it includes learning the HOW (Computer stuff, cooking, etc) or the WHY (historical & political events). The what just doesn't seem relevant without it!
I am a true cinephile - I love movies. Ranging from campy, B&W musical extraveganzas, to intellectual dramas ("A History of Violence" was very good), from Stephen Spielburg to Kevin Smith.
My musical tastes are equally eclectic. I love classical baroque, and have no problems cranking up some Bach or Shubert to drown out the latest gangsta-rap hiphop BOOM-BOOMing from the next car. For me, music is as much about the lyrics as the tune, and the more intelligent and eloquent the lyrics are the more I am likely to play a song over and over until I am driving everyone around me crazy.
I love to cook. So much so, I have a "kitchen hero" - If you have not watched Alton Brown's "Good Eats" on Food TV, watch it. Anyone who wants to learn to cook will get an excellent review of not only some great and easy recipes, but the science behind the process and the best-practice techniques. Because of him, I have read "On Food and Cooking" from cover to cover.
I have the heart of a geek - I love technology and playing with all the cool new "toys" that are coming out (it seems like) each week. With my hubby's help, I have built my last three computers from scratch. I do have the bad habit of ripping open the package and turning on a new PDA or somesuch and playing with all the features without ever glancing at the manual. (I know, I know - RTFM) I do read the manual once I discover a feature I want to use and can't figure out on my own.
My hubby got me hooked on playing an FPS called "Call of Duty 2" online with a bunch of CRAZY guys. There are a couple of other girls who play, and its a great way to get my fix between trips to the shooting range.
We are studying and saving up for the proper equipment to start our own ghost-hunting team. If you have SciFi network, try and watch "Ghosthunters". These guys are serious about it, and do it RIGHT. They actually actively try and disprove their own evidence before they will admit that a place is haunted.
To keep a roof overhead, I work for an HR outsourcing company, assisting with the on-boarding of our new clients. I love the company, and the people I work with, even when my job itself is driving me crazy - LOL
NO kids, unless you count the four-footed kind, and no plans to have any.
